My love affair with photography started in high school. I convinced my parents to buy me a used Pentax K1000 and I worked in a photo lab in a shopping mall. I ended up studying fashion design in NYC and Florence and graduated with a BFA. After years as a successful fashion designer, I decided I wanted to try something new. It wasn’t until I got married when I realized how incredible wedding photography is. Shortly after my wedding I started up A+O and have been shooting weddings, portraits and editorial for the past 10 years.
My approach to photography is all about the connection between people and the place where something happens. I like to do research, scout and get a feel for where I am before I start shooting. Doing this helps me envision the story I’m about to tell and the timeline of the day. Whether it’s someones backyard or a new place, it was chosen for a reason.
Having a connection with my clients is important to me because I want them to be in the moment, feel comfortable and have fun. To be able to document and tell someone’s story is one of the greatest joys in my life. It’s a huge honor and I’m incredibly grateful for it all.
